To start with, the au2uk1 travelplug comes with a moulded Australian plug (shown opposite). The plug is designed to fit perfectly into standard Australian sockets. This ensures no fiddling around to get a standard travel plug to fit properly, and also provides the correct earth continuity. Sometimes, standard travel plugs do not allow the earth pin to be connected (a potentially dangerous situation when using earthed appliances like travel irons, etc.) Connected to the moulded Australian plug is approximately 40cm (16") of flex. This in turn connects to the single UK socket. This socket is made from high impact resilient rubber for durability. It is designed to withstand harsh working conditions, and its strength makes it ideal for use in a travelplug system such as this. Unlike UK 13A plugs, Australian plugs have no fuse. Therefore, to ensure the same level of safety as in the UK, any UK plugs used with this socket must be fitted with a standard fuse no greater than 10A.
