This ensures no fiddling around to get a standard travel plug to fit properly, and also provides the correct earth continuity. Sometimes, standard travel plugs do not allow the earth pin to be connected (a potentially dangerous situation when using earthed appliances like travel irons, etc.) Connected to the South African plug is approximately 40cm (16") of flex. This in turn connects to the single UK socket. This socket is made from high impact resilient rubber for durability. It is designed to withstand harsh working conditions, and its strength makes it ideal for use in a travelplug system such as this. Unlike UK 13A plugs, South African plugs have no fuse.
